Today's decision by the Federal Court is a reaffirmation of the power of the people to protect their right to vote. Thank you to the members of the Georgia NAACP, Black Voters Matter, and concerned citizens of Georgia for their work. Also, thank you to the diligent lawyers that argued the case before the Federal Court.
Our hope at the State Conference is that this ruling will send a message to elected officials in Georgia that no policy, procedure, or law in Georgia should attempt to "dilute the power of Black Voters." The State Conference, through its members, will always stand up and fight for the right to free and fair elections that protect the right to appropriate representation of all voters, especially Black Voters.
We are ready to agitate, litigate, and legislate to protect our rights and the rights of Black People and all People of Color. Thank you again to the Federal Court for affirming the Power of the Voting Rights Act to protect against attempts to disenfranchise voters.
