Georgia NAACP Announces 83rd Annual State Convention
ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia State Conference NAACP proudly announces its 83rd Annual Convention, convening under the banner “The Fierce Urgency of Now: From Advocacy to Action.” The three-day gathering, scheduled for October 9–11, 2025, at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway, will unite civil rights leaders, youth, clergy, and community members from across Georgia in a call for bold action, justice, and transformation.
“This year’s convention is more than a meeting—it’s a movement,” said Gerald Griggs, President of the Georgia NAACP. “The challenges of today demand urgency, courage, and unity. Together, we will ground ourselves in community, build breakthroughs, and inspire a new generation of leaders.”
Convention Highlights
· Day 1 – Grounded in Community, Guided by Faith | Begins with a Press Conference at 11:30 AM, followed by a Labor and Industry Luncheon keynote from Dwayne Brown—Maximus, Inc., a Community Mass Meeting with a keynote from Pastor Valerie Thompson—National Baptist Association, Inc., and concludes with Dinner for the Soul at Elizabeth Baptist Church.
· Day 2 – Building Blocks and Breakthroughs | Special Highlight: Career Fair with on-the-spot interviews from 15 local employers, sponsored by Maximus, Inc., creating pathways for employment and professional growth. Features workshops on Legal Redress, Civic Engagement, Branch Administration, Healthcare, and Economic Development, alongside the Butler Membership Luncheon with a keynote from Dr. Benjamin Chavis—National Newspaper Publishers Association. Evening highlights include GYCD Spirit Night and a Delegates Welcome Reception honoring veterans.
· Day 3 – Inspire Youth, Celebrate Legacy, Impact Tomorrow | Spotlights youth and women’s leadership through Women In NAACP Brunch a keynote from Dr. Toni Alvarado—My Sister’s Keeper Foundation for Women and the Youth & College Luncheon a keynote from Rev. Dr. Charles White—former NAACP National Field Director, plus workshops on juvenile justice, health, and financial empowerment. The convention culminates with the Freedom Fund Gala at 7:00 PM, with Mistress of Ceremonies—Toni Moore/KISS 104.1 headlined keynote by Bishop William Barber, II—National Poor People’s Campaign/founder of the Moral Mondays movement, and featuring live music by the Musical Jays.
Community Engagement – In addition to workshops and plenaries, the convention will host a Healthcare Mobile Clinic and The HUB Vendor Experience, spotlighting Black-owned businesses and community entrepreneurs. These events are open to the public, underscoring the NAACP’s commitment to both advocacy and economic empowerment.
