GEORGIA NAACP JOINS THE HENRY COUNTY NAACP FOR ITS 16TH ANNUAL FREEDOM FUND

During an evening of Black excellence, the Henry County NAACP celebrated its 16th annual Freedom Fund Gala at the Merle Manders Event Center. The evening featured scholarship awards for local students and branch awards for the hard work of the unit in the community.

President Gerald Griggs was the keynote speaker for the Gala of the Henry County NAACP Freedom Fund. President Griggs gave the charge to lead with an eye to the future but never forget the work of the past. President Griggs charged the unit to "work in the community for freedom, justice, and accountability. We are the NAACP and must lead the fight for civil rights and social justice." President Griggs lastly, reminded the Henry County NAACP "that we must hold elected officials accountable to the will of the people and the continued advancement of minority communities, especially Black Communities."

The Henry County NAACP under the leadership of President Roslyn Matthews has been working with the community on Voter Mobilization, working to reduce homelessness, and improving the overall quality of life of African Americans in Henry County.
