NAACP Georgia State Conference Host 82nd Annual Convention in Augusta, Oct. 10-12



AUGUSTA – The NAACP Georgia State Conference is gearing up to host its 82nd Annual State Convention and Civil Rights Conference, from October 10 to 12, at the Augusta Marriott Convention Center. This year’s theme, “All In: Lifting Every Voice!”, seeks to unite community members and leaders from across Georgia to address critical social issues and drive transformative change.



The convention aims to bridge generational and cultural gaps, bringing together civil rights leaders, activists, clergy, union leaders, industry experts, legislators, and concerned citizens. Key topics include civic engagement, legal redress, financial literacy, labor rights, education, health, women’s rights, and veterans' assistance. Attendees will leave empowered to make a lasting impact on their communities.


The event will conclude with the highly anticipated Freedom Fund Awards Gala, featuring a keynote address by Derrick Johnson, National NAACP President and CEO. This closing event will celebrate the year's achievements while inspiring attendees to continue advocating for civil rights.


Key Highlights of the Conference:


Oct. 10:

- Press Conference: Kicking off the convention with discussions on impactful change in Georgia.

- Labor Luncheon: Hear from AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer James Redman and CWA Local President Edward Barlow.

- Dinner for the Soul: An evening of food, fellowship, and reflection.

- Mass Meeting: Pastor Jamal Bryant, of New Birth Church, delivers the keynote.


Oct. 11:

- Opening Plenary Session: Conducting official NAACP business.

- Health Screenings: Free screenings courtesy of the United Healthcare System of Georgia, KC Medical, and the NAACP Health Committee.

- Workshops: Covering Legal Redress, Political Action, and Economic Development.

- Butler Membership Luncheon: U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff will deliver remarks, followed by a keynote from Benjamin Chavis, former National NAACP President.

- Welcome Delegate Reception: A networking opportunity for attendees.


Oct. 12:

- Game Changer “All-In” Breakfast: Keynote by Pastor L.K. Pendelton of Red Oak UMC.

- Youth & College Workshops: Sessions on Juvenile Justice, Digital Democracy, and more.

- Youth Luncheon: William Sims, former Georgia NAACP Youth President, will inspire the next generation of leaders.

- Veterans Services: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Bus will provide claims and health services.

- Project 2025 Townhall: Attorney Christopher Bruce of the Georgia ACLU will lead discussions on the future of civil rights.

- W.I.N. Brunch: Keynote by Roslyn M. Brock, NAACP board member and chair emeritus.

- Workshops: Topics include Branch Administration, Veteran Affairs, and Financial Freedom.

- Freedom Fund Awards Gala: The grand finale, featuring Derrick Johnson, NAACP President and CEO.
